From 1976 until 1997, the Times Record News was part of Harte-Hanks chain, when Scripps acquired the paper.
"Jonell Acuff Maier passed away on October 24, 2004 in Houston, Texas. Jonell was born September 30, 1919 on an oil lease in Burkburnett, Texas to Lila Hyden Acuff and Randolph Acuff. She grew up in Iowa Park, Texas where her father owned a Chevrolet dealership. After graduating from high school, she studied home economics at Texas Women's University and Midwestern University. She married Cleburne Milton Maier on February 26, 1939 at her parents' home in Iowa Park. Jonell and Cleburne began their married life in Iowa Park, later moving to El Paso, Galveston and eventually settling in Houston. Their stay in Houston was interrupted in the mid-1960s when they spent a year living in McLean, Virginia. They were active in a number of churches, including the First Christian Church in Galveston, Bethany Christian Church and First United Methodist Church, both in Houston. Jonell was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by daughters Linda Doerksen and husband Shelton of College Station, Catherine Cox and husband James of Austin, Constance Bitto and husband Ronald of Houston; grandchildren, Brent Williams and wife Tricia, Kent Williams, Courtney Cox, Lindsey Adams and husband Eric, Clinton Cox, Evan Bitto and Andrew Bitto; and great-grandchildren, Justin Williams, Jonathan Adams, and Samantha Williams. A devoted mother and grandmother, Jonell will be remembered for all the nurturing and care she gave to her family. A talented seamstress, she took pride and pleasure in the many beautiful clothes she made for herself, her daughters and granddaughters. In her later years, she enjoyed researching genealogy. Her grandchildren will remember her wonderful holiday meals, especially her pies, and most importantly, the way she always took the time to listen to them and be with them. The family wishes to thank the staff at University Place, especially the fifth floor staff who grew close to Jonell amd assisted her during the last year of her life. They would also like to thank the sitters who cared for her during her final months, Yvonne Heard, Diana Williams, Robin Brakert, Sherma George and Bridget Ajewole. Visitation will take place later this week at the funeral home in Iowa Park and her funeral service and burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park."

The Waco Tribune-Herald is an American daily newspaper serving Waco, Texas and vicinity.

The newspaper has its roots in five predecessors, beginning with the Waco Evening Telephone in 1892. The Tribune-Herald took its current identity when E.S. Fentress and Charles Marsh, who owned the Waco News-Tribune, bought the Waco Times-Herald. That purchase was the beginning of Newspapers, Inc., a chain which eventually owned 13 newspapers. Founded 1892 (as the Waco Evening Telephone).
"Lonnie Benton Baggett, 79, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, June 10, at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Bro. Michael Vestal will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 9, at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home. Lonnie was born in Freestone, Texas to the late Lonnie and Laura Baggett, and was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Teague High School in 1951. Benton enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1956, underwent basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, and was sent to Augusta, Georgia, where he trained with the Signal Corp. From there, he was deployed to Fort Meade, Maryland; he played the drums in the U.S. Army Pipe and Drum Corp. until being honorably discharged in September, 1958. He married Crowell Ann Clark, of Teague, Texas, on February 16, 1957, and they moved back to Texas upon his discharge. He gained employment with the Texas Highway Department in 1959 and retired from the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation in 1987. Beginning in the sixties, he operated a bicycle shop at his home, where he built, repaired, bought, and sold bicycles. To those who didn't know his name but required bike repair, he was known simply as "the bicycle man." Benton had enjoyed being outdoors his entire life and was happiest while tending his cattle, raising vegetables in his garden, fishing, or doing anything that involved being on his tractors. He also enjoyed participating in worship services by singing and playing harmonica for the elderly and infirmed at local retirement homes. And, he never met a pecan that he didn't like. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Baggett; and sisters, Eula Elliott and Kay Shipp. Survivors include his wife, Ann Baggett, of Mexia, Texas; sons, Stan Baggett and wife, Kelly, of Hudson Oaks, Texas, and Jeff Baggett, of Crawford, Texas; grandson, Nathan Baggett and wife, Carol, of Weatherford, Texas; granddaughter, Laura Cooke and husband, Lucas; great-grandchildren, Maverick Baggett, Benjamin Baggett, and Emma Cooke; many nieces and nephews; and a host of faithful and cherished friends at Temple Baptist Church in Mexia, Texas, where he was an ordained deacon."

"Funeral services were held Monday for Lee Carlton Clark, 80, of Fairfield, who died July 8. Rev. Paul Kethley officiated at the service, held at First United Methodist Church of Fairfield. Burial was at Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was the first child born in the Teague Davidson Hospital on October 23, 1930, and was the only child of Elizabeth (Lott) and Lillard Carlton Clark of Fairfield.
He married Eleanor Jo Bozeman on December 24, 1952, in Teague. He and his family resided in the Dallas area until 1985 when he retired from North Texas State University in Denton. He opened a business in Mexia, and lived there until retiring again in 1996 when he and his wife moved to their home in Fairfield.
Mr. Clark was an active member and Bible teacher in the Methodist churches in Dallas, Denton, and Mexia. He joined the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield in 1996. His favorite chapter in the Bible was Psalms 91. His family remembers his love of studying the Bible, guns and hunting, and his ability to fix almost anything.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Eleanor, and five children: Joseph and Michelle Clark of Fairfield, Sherrie and Sam Wilson of Dallas, Gerrie and Bruce Henderson of Hubbard, Susan and Jeff Loomis of Greenville, Michigan, and Lillard and Terrie Clark of Mexia.
Survivors also include 17 grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillard and Elizabeth Clark, and grandparents, Sheriff Jack and Della Lott and Will and Hassie Clark and by a grandson, Micah Carlton Clark."

"Rayford "Clark" Harmon, 82, of Mont Belvieu was born March 10, 1933, in Dew, TX and passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, in Baytown. He was a 1951 graduate of Barbers Hill High School and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church Mont Belvieu. He was also a member and past Chief of the Barbers Hill Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in getting its ambulance service started. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton "Dick" Harmon and Mary Harmon Williams. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary L. Harmon of Mont Belvieu; son and daughter-in-law, Rayford and Carla Harmon of Belton; daughter and son-in-law, Suzi and Robert Zbranek of Baytown; twin brother and sister-in-law, Rayburn Glynn and Genevieve Harmon of Cove; stepsister and stepbrother-in-law, Patsy and Ernie Battle of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Clinton Harmon, Jean Marie Harmon, Chris Millikan, Stefani and Jeff Potts, and Jonathan and Whitney Craig; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Robertson, Brooklyn Robertson, Makayla Plummer, Allie Millikan, Bradyn Deitrich, Justin Potts, and Austyn Craig; and his loving grand dog and companion, Tink. His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, January 22, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Porter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. He worked in real estate for several years. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Dew Methodist Church all of his life. He is preceded in death by a brother, Bill Allen Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Brown and husband, Jimmy; grandson, J.T. Brown; granddaughter, Cooper Brown; brother, David Johnson and wife, Sharon, all of Teague; sister, Brenda Johnson, of Dew; and several nieces and nephews."
