359. Woodrow Terry Plummer

A Tribute to Pfc Woodrow Terry Plummer Pfc. Woodrow Terry Plummer, 38137219, received an honorable discharge from the Army of the United States of America at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, on December 28, 1945. He entered into active service of World War II on April 13, 1942, at Camp Wolters, Texas. Pfc. Plummer's military occupation was Rifleman who loaded, aimed, and fired an M-1 rifle to destroy enemy personnel and assist in capturing and holding enemy positions; was also proficient in the use of other Infantry hand weapons in Companyy "A", 307th Infantry, Asiatic Pacific theater of which battle and campaigns included Southern Philippines, Luzon and Western Pacific. Decorations and citations awarded Pfc. Plummer included American Theater Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation Ribbon; Victory Ribbon; 1 Service Stripe and 3 Overseas Service Bars. Pfc. Plummer was born Sept. 26, 1912, to James Luther Plummer and Maud Terry Plummer in the Kickapoo Community near Groesbeck, Texas in Limestone County. He died suddenly of a heart attack on Sept. 8, 1955, while working on an oil rig at Danbury, Texas. He is buried in the Plummer Family Cemetery in the Kickapoo Community. Bonnie Myrtis Beene

Mrs. Myrtis New, 96, longtime Arlington resident, passed away Friday May 25, 2007. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel in Mexia with the Reverend Ken Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Mexia cemetery. Mrs. New was born in Freestone County to Willis Dixon Beene and Bettie Martin Beene. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and enjoyed serving as a volunteer both at church and in the community. On Sept. 24, 1929, she married Marvin Vester New of Mexia, TX, who preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Kay Fell, granddaughter, Laura Griffin and husband Wess, grandson, Denton Fell and wife Lisa and great granddaughter Abby Lynn. Also surviving is her sister, Mozelle Carlisle of Houston.
