7. Martin Owens
Martin Owens and Zina Hollinsworth were married December 28, 1836 in Wilson Co., Tennessee. They lived in Cannon Co. close to Gassaway, Tennessee. They packed the old covered wagon with all their belongings and nine kids and headed west about 1852. Some of Martin's folks moved to Polk Co., Misouri, So they stopped there so Zina could have her baby girl, Linez Owens. Something happened there because Zina didn't make the trip to Texas. It is not known if Martin married his second wife or came to Texas and then Married. Here the second wife name becomes unclear some have her as only Elizabeth and another source has R. A. Elizabeth. Martin took his family to Cedar Grove, Texas, a little community just south of Teague. They had five more children for a total of fifteen. This was the beginning of the Owens Family of Freestone County, Texas.
