Eugene Vernice was born in Prairie Hill, Texas, to the late Sol Lee and Emma Johnson Wills. She was a retired supervisor with the Mexia State School. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Weldon Isham; and a son, Gifford Isham. She is survived by her sons, George Isham, of Bellmead, Roger Isham, of Mexia, and David Ray Isham, of California; daughter, Ruby Lee Isham, of Irving; daughter-in-law, Pat Isham, of Ft. Worth; brother, Jack Wills, of Waco; sister, Wanda Wyatt, of Axtell; and many other family members and friends."

Survivors include her daughter, Janell Slovak and husband, David, of Elm Mott; sons, Dale Wyatt, and Floyd Wyatt and his wife, Pat, all of Axtell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends."

Mrs. Alta Ilene New Beene passed away May 6, 2011, in Mexia at the age of 92. Mrs. Beene was born May 5, 1919 in Limestone County to D. E. and Zina Mae Terry New. She was a lifelong resident of Limestone County. Mrs. Beene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rex Beene. Survivors include her six children, Kenneth and Bernice Beene, Elaine Huckabee, Ann and Frank David, Dan and Sally Beene, Bill and Pam Beene and Debbie Beil. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and sisters, Jo Stem and Mary Bond. Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, May 9, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Michael Vestal and Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shiloh cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Huckabee, Kevin Beene, Michael David, Kent David, James Daniel Beene, Brad Beene and Bret Beene. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Beene, Jack Beene and Bobby Beene.

Mr. Beene was born December 30, 1918 in Mexia to Guy H. and Nettie Wills Beene. He served in U. S. army during World War II, and retired from Exxon after 36 Years; was charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Longview, United Methodist Men, and Exxon Retirement Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Beene of Houston, daughters, Barbara Beene Dorsey and husband, Danny of Houston and Jan Beene Austin and husband, Aron Of Houston, Sister, Louise Cundieff of Muldoon and three grandchildren, Daron Dorsey, Heather Weitzel and Lauren Weitzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Wendell Beene, Ray Beene, Rex Beene and Clifton Beene; three sisters, Frances Clark, Ruth East and Hazel Lawson and two sons, Guy H. Beene III and David Keith Beene, and by a son in law, Kenneth Weitzel.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Kenneth Beene, Dan Beene, Bill Beene, Don Beene, Jack Beene, Bobby Beene and David East."
