"Lanora Faye (Key) Owens, 83 of Huntsville, Texas and the widow of Rev. Robert Owens (Cook Springs Baptist Church) died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Owens was born March 31, 1927 in Childress, TX to Brack and Minnie (Smith) Key. She attended and graduated from Kirkland High School, Kirkland, Texas. On May 30, 1943 she was married to Rev. Robert Owens at the First Baptist Church in Tell, Texas. Lanora Faye was employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 32 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, teaching Sunday School, and serving God. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Robbins; granddaughter, Debra Robbins; granddaughter and husband, Angela and Wesley Williams; great-grandson Noah Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hospice Care of the Southwest, 2040 North Loop 336 West, #324, Conroe, Texas 77304 or to Office of Institutional Advancement, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, P.O. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Molk; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rawls Owens; and sister, Glenda Black. Billie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Otis Robinson; son, David and Gina Robinson; son-in-law, Richard Molk; grandchildren, Kevin Hanselman, Matt Molk, Shae Robinson, Brianne Robinson, Simon Robinson and Luke Robinson; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Madison Hanselman; sister, Mary Bell Pool; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Billie was a housewife for 61 years and a dedicated mother, being involved in many organizations like the PTA and Girl Scouts, to name a few. She was also an active member of the Farris Chapel United Methodist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, with Rev. Wes Reagan and Dr. Don Post officiating. Burial will be at Farris Cemetery in Walker County. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Darrell Smallwood, Ronnie Hively, Royce Hively, Kenny Roberts, Gary Robinson, Donnie Robinson and Robert Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Walker, Sam Walker and Steve Hively. He was active in the Norris Theater's Bravo and Prime Time Players, Palos Verdes Art Center, Torrance Memorial Hospital Miracle of Living Series, and Los Cancioneros. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zora Hamel and his son, Gary Marler. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty; son, Mike Marler of Palos Verdes Estates; daughters, Tisha Shaski of Palm Desert and Melinda Connell and husband Paul of Houston; Gary's wife, Cindy Marler of Cambria; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. After college at Wichita State, they re-acquainted while working at Beech Aircraft. The couple was married July 5, 1941, celebrating 70 years together. Betty started a career in real estate in 1964, lasting over 48 years. She formed Marler and Associates, located in Malaga Cove Plaza. There she enjoyed working with her sons Gary Marler and Mike Marler. Her other activities included Palos Verdes Board of Realtors (Past president), The Circle of the Art Center, Norris Theatre/Bravo Support Group (Past Board Member), Rolling Hills Estates Women's Club (Past President), and Torrance Memorial Hospital/Miracle of Living Series, Her interests were traveling the world, hosting parties and events, shopping, mentoring, and creating photo albums of her family and travels, tennis and bridge. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and their son, Gary. She is survived by her children, Tisha Shaski, Melinda Connell and husband, Paul, Mike Marler and her daughter-in-law(Gary's widow), Cindy Marler; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
