Rufus C. Parish Funeral services for Rufus Clay Parish were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs, Clif Werhan officiated. Parish, 71 was born June 20, 1910 in Rush Springs. He died Thursday at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha following a lengthy illness. Parish lived in Rush Springs until 1946 and later moved to Lindsay. In 1959, he moved to Carnegie and returned to Rush Springs in 1975. He was retired from the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. He married Helen Johnson March 25, 1933 in Rush Springs and was a member of the Church of Christ here. Survivors include his wife Helen of the home, three daughters, Dorothy McClure of Lindsay, Shirley Boevers of Verden, and Lois Sweet of Chickasha; three sisters, Eunice Foster, Callie Foster, and Lady Murray, all of Rush Springs; a brother, James of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Gale McAdoo, Don Cunningham, Don Hall, Bob Shaw, Kenneth Barton, and Donnie Fountain."

"Mattie Helen Sellman Rush Springs: Mattie Helen Sellman, 95, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Duncan. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Rush Springs Church of Christ, with Rev. Glenn Pence officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Helen was born Tuesday, November 23, 1915 to Oscar Franklin Johnson and Ola Ollie (Shore) Johnson. Helen lived in the Rush Springs, Lindsay and Carnegie area most of life and attended school in Agawam. She married Rufus Clay Parish on March 25, 1933 in Rush Springs. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1982. She later married Marshall A. Sellman on May 5, 1986 in Rush Springs. He passed away on April 2, 1995. Helen was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She loved to read and read a chapter every night. Helen was a member of the Rush Springs Church of Christ. Survivors include, two daughters, Shirley Hatfield and husband Leroy of Rush Springs, Lois Sweet of Chickasha, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sister, Lois Cox of Kansas City, numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Dorothy Louise McClure, grandson, Johnathon Bray, three sisters, Dessie Murphy, Thelma Pence, Murl Fountain, two brothers, Carl Johnson and Archie Baker. Pallbearers will be: Matt Jarvis, Marty Bray, Kelly Orr, Tony Pennington."

Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb funeral Home. Mrs. Murray was born December 1, 1911, in Rush Springs, the Daughter of T.C. and Berta V. Jones Parrish. She was married to Harold Raymond Murray in Chickasha on May 30, 1931. She had lived in Rush Springs most her life where she attended school. She was a housewife and was a member of the Church of Christ in Rush Springs. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Harold L. and Sherry Murray of Lindsay; a grandson, Ray Murray and his wife Becky of Lindsay; and a brother James Parrish and his wife LaVera of Duncan. Raymond Murray Raymond Murray, 88 died Monday June 23, 1997at his home in Rush Springs. Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. wed, June 25, in the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Clif Werhan officiating. Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb funeral Home. Mr. Murray was born August 2, 1908 in Cement, the son of George Frank and Maggie Haun Murray. He was married to Lela M. “Lady” Parrish in Chickasha on May 30, 1931. He had lived in Rush Springs since 1928. He attended Garvin Springs and Hughes schools. He was employed at First National Bank in Rush Springs for over 40 years. He was a member of the Rush Springs Lions Club for over 50 years and severed as song leader for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Rush Springs where he served as song leader and Elder. He wrote many songs and poems. Mr. Murray was named “Outstanding citizen” in Rush Springs in 1963 was Chisholm Trail Honoree in 1984 and a Lions Club member he worked at the annual Watermelon Festival and master of ceremonies for the queen and tiny tots contest for many years. He was also an avid fisherman. Pallbearers were Ronald Parish, Barry Foster, Eugene Avants, Gary Bray, Larence Robinson and Murray Birdwell."
