She was a 1939 graduate of Weatherford High School. Allie was a retired LVN working first at Campbell Memorial Hospital then later at Peach Tree Place. She was a life long member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack C. Wilson and Dan O'Day; parents; brothers, Lee Young and Clyde Young; sisters, Willie Seymour and Geneva (Dot) Havins; son-in-law, Howard Petty; and great granddaughter, Zoe Michelle Petty. Survivors include her daughters, Janice Petty, Marilyn Huffman; one son; sister, Susie Sutton; five grandchildren, Misti Petty, Shannon Petty, Amy Wilson, Brad Wilson and Brandon Wilson; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel."

"Susie Young Sutton, 83, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008, at her home. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Couts United Methodist Church. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotten-Bratton Chapel, Weatherford. Susie Young Sutton was born Nov. 23, 1924, to Richard and Hattie Young. She lived most of her life in Weatherford. Susie was a lifelong member of Couts United Methodist Church, where her great delight was being involved in the Willing Wesleyan Circle and the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. Having retired from Southwestern Bell, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club. She enjoyed her years at the telephone company, working with "the nicest group of girls" who felt like family to her. Susie also took great pleasure working at the switchboard at Campbell Hospital. She was always so happy that the Lord had arranged the places he wanted her to work and the kind of work he wanted her to do. She wished that everyone could be as happy in their work as she was in hers. Among her favorite verses were II Timothy 1:12, I John 5:1, Philippians 4:13 and Psalms 46:1. Survivors: Son, Michael Sutton and friend, Jackie Jackson, of Dallas; nieces, Modie Mosley of Clyde, Prissy and Leo Neely, Jan Petty, Marilyn Huffman and Nelda Chandler; nephews, Phil Wilson, Rodney and Ruby Havins of Longview and Cecil and Shirleen Havins; great-nieces, Susan and Leo Moore, Brittney Neely, Jennifer and Kevin Puckett, Misti Petty and Jeff Aurand, and Amy Wilson and Tracie Gregory; great-nephews, Tim and Jan Mosley, Scott and Melanie Havins, Shannon and Dong Mei Petty, Brad Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Jeffory Young and Carlton Havins."

Funeral Services for Arthur Parish were held here Monday

Funeral services for Benjamin Arthur Parish, 76, were held Monday Sept 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Callaway-smith Funeral home in Rush Springs. Cliff Werhan, minister of Rush Springs Church of Christ, officiated.

Parish was born Nov 10, 1894 in Dew, Texas and died at 12:30 p.m. Sept 25th in the Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha. He moved to Rush Springs in 1906, living here for 20 years and then moved to Carson City, Nev. He moved back here about two years ago. He was a retired electrician and a veteran of World War I

Pallbearers were Elton Teel, Warren Morris, Glen Jones, Karl Scruggs, Rufus Dorman and C.C. Jinks.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith Funeral Home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Breacheen of Norman, and Mrs. Joan Saulsberry of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Foster, Mrs. Verd Foster and Mrs. Raymond Murray all of Rush Springs. Three Brothers, Finley of Rush Springs, Rufus of Carnegie, and J. Harmon of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren."

Funeral services for Carl (Jake) Parish were held Monday at 10 a.m. in Dallas, Tex.

Mr. Parish was a former Rush Springs resident and was a brother of Mrs. Mary Porter, Mrs. Cally Foster, Lady Murray and Finley Parish all of Rush Springs. Other brothers and sisters are: Mrs Eunice Foster, Alomogordo, New Mexico; Rufus Parish, Lindsay; Arthur Parish and J.H. Parish.

Graveside rites were held in the Rush Springs Cemetery Monday afternoon with Eulys Russel of the Chickasha Church of Christ in charge.

Mr. Parish lived in Rush Springs for many years and served as mail carrier and was in business here."

She is survived by one brother, Carl Parish & wife Gwen of Greenville; brother-in-law, Richard Roberts of Cranfills Gap; three nieces, Kim Middleton of Cranfills Gap, Nancy Yvonne McDaniel of North Carolina, and Sharon Kay Helton of Mesquite; six nephews, Billy Joe Parrish of Conroe, Charles Wendell Parrish of Colorado, Ronald Nathan Terrell of Greenville, Donald Wayne Terrell of Converse, Robert Wayne Parish and David Carl Parish both of Greenville; local cousins, William Ray Day of Teague, Roy Day of Dew, Naomi Ione Moran of Dew, Charles V. Funeral Services for Mary Etta Porter were Tuesday

Funeral services for Mary Etta Porter, 68, were held Tuesday, August 10th at 10 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Eulys Russell of Chickasha officiating.

Mrs. Porter was born Nov 1, 1902 in Freestone County, Texas and died Sunday, Aug. 8, at 7:20 am in Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha, following a two and half year illness. She had been a resident of Rush Springs most of her life. She was married to Robert L. Porter in April of 1931 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith Funeral Home.

Bearers were Pat Dowling, Wes Huffine, Herb Haston, R.O. Gibbs, Allan Winham and Spencer Bernard.

Survivors include one son E.M. Hanson of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters; Linda Hanson and Mary Sue Bond; 2 grandsons, Mike Hanson and Tommy Bond both in the armed services; three sisters Mrs. Cally Foster, Mrs. Eunice Foster and Mrs. Lady Murray of Rush Springs; four brothers B. Arthur Parish, and Finley Parish, both of Rush Springs, Rufus Parish of Carnegie and J. Harmon Parish of California; 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Virginia Griffith of California and Anna Sue Waltman of Nebraska."

Lt. Thomas C. Hanson Killed in Korea Jet Crash

Plane Crashes on take off June 6

1st Lt. Thomas C. Hanson was killed in the crash of his airplane June 6 on the Korean battle front. He is the son of Mrs. Mary Tackett, Norman and a nephew of Mrs. Verd Foster and Mrs. Raymond Murray.

Word of his death was not received by his mother until Wednesday June 20 when she received letters from two of his superior officers. Cause of Hanson’s crash was listed as a power failure on take off. The plane was never able to leave the field and crashed into an embankment at the end of the runway where it burst into flames.

Lt. Hanson graduated from the Rush Springs high school in 1941 after which he immediately joined the United States Navy serving in throughout World War II. After being discharged from the Navy, he enlisted as a cadet in the Air Force, receiving his wings and was assigned to jet fighter squadron.

Hanson was ordered to Korea in November and just before leaving flew over Rush Springs a number of times in his jet fighter. He was engaged and planning to be married immediately on his return from the battle front."

Funeral Services were held on Monday for Eunice D. Foster

Funeral services for Eunice D. Foster were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs. Clif Werhan, former minister of the church, officiated.

Mrs. Foster was born December 7, 1905 in Corsicana, Texas and died Friday, June 24th at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha.

She was married to Add Foster in Duncan on Dec 31, 1927 and had bee a resident of Rush Springs for 72 years. She was a homemaker and at one time worked in the civil service in the Alamogordo, NM Air Force Base. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include here husband, Add, of the home; three sons, Arthur of Alamogordo, Joe of Vienna, VA, and Kent of Plover, Wis., one daughter, Jerry Hoffman, Albuquerque NM; one sister, Lady Murray, Rush Springs; One brother, James Parish, Houston, TX; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home."

Foster was born March 3, 1906 in Gainesville, Texas and died Sunday, Jan 10th in a Ft. Worth Hospital.

He was married Dec 31, 1927 in Duncan to Eunice Dorothy Parish. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1983. He had lived in Ft. Worth since 1983 and prior to that lived in Rush Springs from 1967 to that time. He was a retired supervisor at White Sands Missile range in New Mexico. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ft. Worth.

Survivors include three sons, Arthur M of Alamogordo N.M., Joe M. of Vienna, VA, and W. Kent of Stevens Point, Wis., one daughter, Jerry L. Hoffman, Albuquerque NM; two brothers, Loyd Foster of Rush Springs and Hubert O. Foster of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pall bearers were H.O Foster Jr., Jimm Foster, James C. Heilman, Billy Foster, Mark Jones and Lyndell Kirklev."

Funeral Services were Saturday for Verd Foster

Funeral services for Verd William Foster were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Clif Werhan minister of the church officiated.

Foster 71, died Thursday Nov 28 at 4:30 a.m. at home in Rush Springs of a heart attack. He was born Jan 6 1903 in Gainesville, Texas, and had lived here since 1923. He was married in Chickasha on March 18, 1927 to Callie Lee Parish. He was a deacon in the Church of Christ.

Foster retired in 1967 after working 23 years for Grady County Commissioner District 3. He served with the Rush Springs fire department for 21 years.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith Funeral Home.

Pall bearers were J.R. Cast, Allan Winham, Elton Teel, Bob Shaw, Spencer Bernard, and Herschel Wilburn.

Survivors include his wife Callie of the home address, a foster daughter Mrs. Jean Bowles of Ft worth TX; 3 foster grandchildren also of Ft. Worth; 3 brothers, Loyd and Add of Rush Springs and Hubert of Fort Worth; and two sisters Mrs. Veil Heilman and Mrs. Norene Johnson, both of Rush Springs."

Services for Finley Parish were Friday

Funeral services for Robert Finley Parish were held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ with Clif Werhan, minister of the church, officiated.

Parish, 71, was born July 13, 1909 in Rush Springs and had lived all of his life here. He died Wednesday in the Grady Memorial hospital in Chickasha.

On September 10, 1939, he and Gussie Crittendon were married in Pauls Valley. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Rush Springs Church of Christ.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gale McAdoo, Bobbie Shaw, Nathaniel Shotts, Jim Stark, Allan Winham and Don Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife Gussie, of the home; one son, Ronald Parish, Rush Springs, one daughter, Leta Jennings, Marlow; two brothers, Rufus Parish of Rush Springs and Buster Parish of Texas; three sisters, Lady Murray, Callie Foster and Eunice Foster, all of Rush Springs; two grandchildren, Tammy and Lesa Jennings, both of Rush Springs; a daughter in law Cindy Parish and a son in law Roy Jennings, both of Rush Springs."

Mrs Parish was born July 11, 1916, in Rush Springs, the daughter of Homer Crittendon and Myrtle (Haynes) Crittendon. She was married to Robert Finley Parish in Pauls Valley on September 10, 1939. He died August 13, 1980. She had lived in Rush Springs all her life and was a school teacher in Rush Springs for 32 years. She graduated from Rush Springs High School and received her BA Degree in Education from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Assoctiation and the Rush Springs Church of Christ. Survivors include one sone, Ronald Parish and his wife Cindy of Rush Springs; one daughter, Leta Avents and her husband Gene of Rush Springs; four grandchildren, Deanna Parish, Lee Parish, Tammy Martin, and her husband Lyndall, and Lisa Foster and her husband Barry; one step-grandson, Kelsey Avants; seven great grandchildren; and one brother Lee Crittendon of Rush Springs.
