African American Viverettes in Tennessee

Only one family of African Americans named Viverette is found in Tennessee. Wesley Viverette (spelled Vivrett originally) married Harriet Jenkins in Wilson County on January 25, 1872. The 1880 census shows him and Harriet with four children in Rutherford County, Tennessee. In 1900 Harriet has obviously passed away and Wesley is living in Sumner County, Tennessee. The 1900 Census is the first to give birth dates, and Wesley listed his as March 1851, although the 1880 suggests that he was born in 1848. In 1910 Wesley is living with his son William in Oklahoma, where he probably spent his remaining days.
