What started fifty years ago as a small congregation which met in a local restaurant, has today grown into a vibrant Christian family which embraces people from all walks of life. With a membership of around 180 families, we are a small yet very active church. We have groups and activities for all members of the family. We have a thriving education program for our young people and encourage our adults to participate in diocese-sponsored education seminars. We are also active in our community. We participate in community events, inter-faith services, charity work and we sponsor an annual fall festival called Cajun-Fest. We believe that the Christian life is one that must be lived-out in our day-to-day lives.Being Roman Catholic, we celebrate our Christian life through liturgy. Liturgical worship is a beautiful and ancient form of worship dating back to Old Testament times. Not only do we use liturgy during Sunday Mass but we celebrate the entire year through the Liturgical Calendar.
Our year begins with the seasons on Advent and Christmas. Advent is a time for preparing ourselves to celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas, but it is also a time to prepare for the Second Comming of Christ at the end-of-time. Lent is a time of penitence and self-denyal. It is a quiet time preparing us to remember the death of Christ on the cross. Easter is a time of great joy and excitement as we celebrate our risen Lord. The rest of the year is called Ordinary time and is a time for spiritual growth and renewal.
Through the Year at St. William Catholic ChurchThese are 'yearbook' style pages showing many of our activities. Please be patient since these pages have many photographs to download. As the year progresses, more pages will be added and current pages will be updated.
