Round Baby Blanket

To be quite honest, you don't really need a pattern to do this. If you have ever crocheted a hat or anything else that called for regular increases to form a circle, that is the exact technique used here. I'm just writing it out for anyone who wants to see it in print. If you'd rather not read through the whole pattern, just know I used a multiple of 6 HDC, and did 3 rows in each color for the stripes.

Materials: M hook (This might be kind of hard to find; I used it because I'd just bought a set of Crystallites hooks at Wal-Mart & hadn't ever seen an M hook before. Feel free to use an N even if your gauge is off; bigger won't hurt with a blanket.)
sport weight yarn in two colors (I used Lion Brand's Pound of Love), approx 8 oz each color
stitch marker

Gauge:
3 rounds of HDC = 1"; 3 HDC = 1"

Finished size is about 36" diameter, approximately the size of a store-bought receiving blanket. As you can tell from the photo, it’s big enough to cover a toddler.

Note: Change colors after every 3rd row. (3 rows color A, 3 rows color B)
Note: Piece is worked in a continuous spiral, without the usual joining slst. Use a stitch marker to keep your place.
(I also really, really recommend crocheting over your yarn ends as you go along, or else there will be a bazillion to weave in at the end.)

At end of round 39, if you want the edging to be in a different color, finish off & attach the other color (should be finishing in color A). The edging is a simple matter of: *Slst, ch 3, sl st in next st* around, but of course any edging will work.
