Living in Lacy-Lakeview, Texas

whose city motto should be

Crime is OK with our police department, just don't break the noise ordinance.

(And be sure to notice their shiny new cars because after all, that's what it's all about.)

My family has lived in the Lacy-Lakeview area since the 1920's. My family started out in the town of Lacy way back before the two towns, Lacy and Lakeview became one. During this time there is one thing that we've discovered about Lacy-Lakeview.

Crime is OK with their police department, just don't break the noise ordinance.

They will be out in a heartbeat and will strictly enforce the law if say, your dog barks after 10pm. But don't expect them to investigate the cause of the barking. We continually find empty beer cans and used condoms beside our house and last night my husband's stereo was stolen out of his truck, which is a big deal to us since he drives to Dallas and back every night for work. This is not the first stereo that we have had stolen in Lacy-Lakeview but experience has taught us to not bother making a report on it.

Here's what experience has taught us about the City of Lacy-Lakeview and the way their police department functions.
  1. If anything is stolen, don't bother calling them because it's an inconvenience to them, especially if it's a stereo or bike as these items do not matter in the least.
  2. If your house is broken into don't expect them to write a report or investigate it in any way, unless of course it is a big enough story for the evening news. It's only a big deal to you.
  3. If someone breaks out a window in your car, also not their problem. They may lower themselves and write a report for your insurance company if you force the issue. It only matters to you.
  4. Adults are allowed to hit minors. They'll get a ticket but they are allowed to do it. Don't waste their time with something so trivial.
  5. You can store stolen bikes directly across the street from the LLPD.. No one will notice.

There are things that will get the police out quicker than you can spit.

  1. Sit outside with friends after 10pm
  2. Let your dogs outside at night. If they bark it has the potential to bring down the SWAT team.

And what ever you do don't attempt to call the Police Department.
On the weekends only the 911 line is answered and if you call 911 for anything that won't end up on the evening news they will let you know right away that that line is for emergencies only.
