| MoPaRz Rants - Topic: IRC vs. AOL |
|
AOL... the biggest Internet provider in the world... but also the shittiest. AOL is nothing but bloated software with people like Steve Case, modifying everything so add-ons (people who use these ''add-ons" are like 50% or so of AOL's population) won't work, etc. Ok, lets talk about the Chatrooms and the people who inhabit them... On IRC there is thousands of rooms in which you can join and there are practically no lamerz on IRC, because they get banned or worse when they mess around on it. When you are on IRC you can kick & ban lamerz who screw with the room, you can make rooms invisible, password protect them, and set the amount of people allowed in the room. I like the idea of having no max amount of people in an IRC room where as AOL has set them to a tiny 24. Anything you can do on AOL, you can basically do on IRC, and better.. AOL's chatrooms are infested with millions of lamerz who talk shit, scroll, and whatever else they can get away with... You cannot kick these lamerz or ban them so they keep coming back and there is nothing you can do about it. Hell, you can't even make a room invisible and/or password protect it on AOL! AOL also regulates which chatrooms you can go into (case and point, any room with the word ''server''). IRC is the perfect choice! If AOL would stop being an online dictatorship and changed their layout to that of IRC, it would be great! Now think to yourself, what would you rather have?!? |
