Building a Champion

I took this picture while visiting Hendricks Motorsports in Charlotte last May. Gordon is my favorite driver in Winston Cup. I started pulling for him while I was at Talladega in 1993. Since I didn't know anything about Nascar, I picked him because he had the same first name as me and he was around the same age. I guess you can say I picked a winner.

Saturday Night Traffic Jam

When it comes to watching a race, Bristol Motor Speedway is one of my favorite tracks. In my opinion, there isn't a bad seat at this track. This Picture was taken at the Food City 500 in August 1997. Dale Jarrett was the winner of the race that night. Jarrett got lucky because Gordon was caught up in a wreck and finished in 35th.

Nashville Speedway

This is a local track for me, since I live 30 minutes from the track. This picture was taken at the BellSouth Mobility/Opryland 320 in March of 1998. Casey Atwood became the youngest driver to win a pole for a Busch race. He was second in the race to the winner Mike McLaughlin. Every Saturday night, there are weekly Late Model Stock Car races. Nashville Late Models have paved the way for many past, present, and future Winston Cup drivers. Past Nashville Late Modelers: Coo Coo Marlin, Sterling Marlin, Darrell Waltrip, Jeremy Mayfield, Casey Atwood, Jeff Green, and Andy Kirby to name a few. Also those that have raced on Saturday nights are: the three Earnhardt kids, Bobby Hamilton Jr., and Adam Petty just to name a few.
