IL AMICUS EQUIS

"the Friendly Horse"

Il Amicus Equis was founded in 1994 to serve as a vehicle in organizing a unified effort in supporting equestrian sports.  Created in hope that the opening of a local polo club in 1996 would begin an era of quality equestrian sports events and set the pace for the future of equestrian sports.

In the summer of 1996, a small group of dedicated polo players from Bryan/College Station came forth to do the initial organizing.  The original group included representatives from every sector of the local community.  Under the Leadership of Alexander Rubio, a small group of students and non-students was consummated.  Texas A&M students were among the earliest supporters of and workers in il Amicus Equis.  The dedication and boundless energy of these young people has been, and continues to be, a moving force in the organization.

Il Amicus Equis has continued to present opportunities to the community.  The excitement of equestrian sports has been carried from year to year by community and business supporters.
