A TRIBUTE TO MY DAUGHTER

My daughter, Vicki, has many special qualities that are recognized, not only by her family, but many who have benefitted from her sensitivity and sincere compassion for others. With this tribute, I proclaim my love for her and, hopefully, share a small part of her with the world. Vicki is such a blessing to us - she is one of two siblings who are making positive contributions in the lives of others. I won't give you a list - what's important is that she is willing to help and support others. As a mother, I have to admit, I get concerned now and again because there are people who take advantage rather than use support constructively. Those who have some wisdom call her "friend," make time to be with her, and (I hope) will be there when she needs a helping hand.

My prayers for Vicki are mostly for her to continue to gain in wisdom and strength. As parents, her father and I cannot be more proud of the woman she has become. Although she may not be "rich" in "material things" and has been presented with major challenges in her life, Vicki continues to be a positive influence to and support of others. She is spiritually prosperous and truly exhibits a heart of gold with everyone and in everything. I hope visitors to this page enjoy this small tribute from a mother to her daughter.

THE BEAUTY OF A WOMAN

The beauty of a woman
isn't in the clothes she wears,
the figure that she carries,
or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman
must be seen in her eyes,
because that's the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman
isn't in a facial mole,
but true beauty in a woman
is reflected by her soul.
It's the caring that she cares to give,
the passion that she shows,
and the beauty of a woman,
with passing years, only grows.

FROM HIS HOUSE TO OURS

There is an event that, in our minds, was only yesterday,
When into our arms was entrusted an especially wonderful child.
God sent an angel in whose arms you nestled so comfortably,
It is no wonder that your countenance is so patient, loving and mild.

So began a life so sweet and many would feel the touch,
Of the overflowing love that you radiated from the start.
We give thanks to God for your enrichment of our lives,
And to this day, we only love you more,
from the very depth of our heart.

WHY GOD MADE DAUGHTERS

When God created daughters,
He took very special care
To find the precious treasures
that would make them sweet and fair.

He gave them smiles of angels,
then explored the midnight skies
And took a bit of stardust
to make bright and twinkling eyes.

He fashioned them from sugar
and a little bit of spice,
He gave them sunny laughter
and everything that is nice.

He smiled when He made daughters
because He knew He had
Created love and happiness
for every mom and dad.

And Then You Grew

When I held you in my arms for the very first time,
I thought I could never love you more...
But then you grew.
In those precious baby times,
Through your first smile, your first tooth, your first steps,
I thought I could never love you more...
But then you grew.

And in those sweet toddler times,
The endless days of curiosity, adventures and discoveries,
I thought I could never love you more...
But then you grew.

And in those wonderful little girl times,
Those days of hurt knees and hurt feelings,
Of making friends and taking in the world around you,
I thought I could never love you more,
But then you grew.

And in those lovely young woman times,
Those times of moods and mysteries, joys and heartaches,
I thought I could never love you more...
But then you grew.

And still, always, day by day, you keep growing ...
More and more beautiful
Nearer and dearer to my heart.

This slideshow contains mostly mountain scenery because both Vicki and I love
the Colorado mountains. We were born in Colorado and long to return one day.
I hope you will enjoy these scenes, at least half as much as we!
(There are nine different photos and the series will recycle)

"The Great Spirit is in all things, is in the air we breathe.
The Great Spirit is our Father and the Earth is our Mother.
She nourishes us; That which we put into the ground, She returns to us."
Big Thunder (Bedagi), late 19th century Algonquin

An Indian Prayer
H. Kent Craig
My grandfather is the fire
My grandmother is the wind
The Earth is my mother
The Great Spirit is my father

The World stopped at my birth
And laid itself at my feet
I shall swallow the Earth whole when I die
And the Earth and I will be one

Hail The Great Spirit, my father
Without him no one could exist
Because there would be no will to live

Hail The Earth, my mother
Without which no food could be grown
And so cause the will to live to starve

Hail the wind, my grandmother
For she brings loving, lifegiving rain
Nourishing us as she nourishes our crops

Hail the fire, my grandfather
For the light, the warmth, the comfort he brings
Without which we be animals, not men

Hail my parent and grandparents
Without which not I nor you
Nor anyone else could have existed

Life gives life
Which gives unto itself
A promise of new life

Hail the Great Spirit, The Earth, the Wind, the Fire
Praise my parents loudly
For they are your parents, too

Oh, Great Spirit, giver of my life
Please accept this humble offering of prayer
This offering of praise
This honest reverence of my love for you
