A TRIBUTE TO EDDIE - MY PARTNER FOREVER
(Husband, Father, Grandfather, "Grampy" to Many,
Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend)

It is said memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true,
We would gladly forfeit memories,
For a life again with you.

In life we loved you so much,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one can ever fill.

If tears could build a roadway,
And heartache make a lane,
There would be a path to you,
We would be together again.

Our chain of love is broken,
Nothing will ever be the same,
We are left with only one hope,
That our chain will link again.

Eddie, I Miss You So Much!

GARDEN OF MY HEART

Within the garden of my heart,
Where flowers of love grow,
A sheltered spot is set apart,
For somebody I know.

There are blossoms of remembrance,
Forget-Me-Nots so blue,
And purple velvet pansies,
To tell my thoughts of you.

And roses that will always bloom,
Whatever be the weather,
Whose fragrance is the memory,
Of the days we spent together

Marie Shea - 1914

A few days after we lost Eddie, our son, Jaytee, found the following poem in Eddie's wallet. Along with an avid appreciation of the magestic eagle, Eddie was a collector of a variety of philosophical sayings, serious and humorous "words of wisdom," poetry, motivational stories, etc. Jaytee took the following photo while in Colorado (our homestate which Eddie loved) and framed the photo and poem together. To his family, the poem represents some of his final words to us.
(If anyone knows the name of the author of this poem, please let me know.)

The following is a letter from Eddie's granddaughter. The original, handwritten letter was placed in a red helium-filled balloon and released at the close of the service held to pay tribute to Eddie's life.
Eddie was his granddaughter's "Grampy" and "Best Friend."

Dear Grampy:

I miss you very much. How are you? I wish you could write back to me. How is it up there? I have always wondered.

I'm sad you have passed away. But I know you don't hurt anymore. I get your movie camera and the eagle we made together awhile ago.

People can donate money to the fund you started for me. We told people you weren't a flower person.

Speaking about flowers, me and Kari are going to call the west garden you helped her make "Grampy's Garden." Grammy said your favorite flowers were roses so me and Kari will plant some over there. You and I bought some petunia seeds a long time ago and we are going to plant them for you. They are red - your favorite color. You will love it.

I was wondering if there is any way you can send a letter back to me. Ask God.

Love you and miss you. We'll see you soon.

Carissa

P.S. Write Back!

THE EAGLE

The eagle is a magnificent bird
Who soars with graceful ease
He's a symbol of our heritage
As he glides upon the breeze

He's a symbol of our freedom
In his soaring boundless flight
A beacon for humanity
And a splendid, noble sight

His huge wingspan maneuvers him
In boundless soaring flight
Oh eagle, in your majesty
May we follow you tonight

May we soar like eagles on the wings
Of dreams composed of light
Oh, eagle, in your splendor
May we follow you tonight

MY HEART WILL GO ON
Celine Dion

Every night in my dreams,
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on.

Far across the distance,
And spaces between us,
You have come to show you go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more, you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

Love can touch us one time,
And last for a lifetime,
And never go till we're one.

Love was when I loved you,
One true time I hold to,
In my life, we'll always go on.

Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more, you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on.

There is some love that will not go away.

You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on.
We'll stay, forever this way,
You are safe in my heart.
And my heart will go on and on.
