"MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD"
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Corinthians 5:21)

There is a natural understanding within sinful man that they lack, but at the same time need, a righteousness to be able to stand before God. That is why there is so many religions in the world that try to figure out this problem; and even in the most pagan and perverted religions, they have their concepts of this problem. They try to figure out how to get right with God; or their concept of a "god". One only has to read religious history to find out how sinful man has tried to obtain a righteousness that is acceptable by God; and, dear reader, professing "Christianity" is not exempt from this fatal error.

The question is: How does a sinner get right with God? Or, how does a sinner obtain a righteousness that is pleasing and acceptable to Him? Can he do it by being "good", or having "good works"; or even obeying the Ten Commandments? Absolutely not! What about becoming a member in a Christian church through baptism, or the so-called "sacraments"? Most certainly not! In other words, there is absolutely not a thing that a sinner can do from his part to become righteous before God! So the problem remains: "For there is not a righteous man upon earth, that does good, and sins not" (Ecclesiastes 7:20); for "as it is written, There is no one that is righteous, no, not one:,...there is no one that does good, no, not one" (Romans 3:10,12). Besides, "we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). Oh, what are we to do?

We can do nothing, but oh!, Hallelujah! Here are the GOOD NEWS: God has provided the righteousness that we need before Him! We can hear our text as the sound of a rescue ship that comes to save one who is about to sink into the depths of the sea; and this sound of grace tells us that "(God) hath made (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we (the believers) might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Can you imagine that? That being "in (Christ)" we are "made the righteousness of God in him"! This means that not only are we "without blame" (Ephesians 1:4), but that we are made righteous as God Himself! Why? Because of our righteousnesses? In no way; but because this righteousness is "the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1:1), and therefore "in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us...righteousness" (1 Corinthians 1 30), we are declared righteous with the righteousness of God in Him. Again, Hallelujah!

Therefore, remember, and take hold of this very precious truth: That it is only by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that this can be certain for you; and so whenever you fall in temptations, and the Adversay accuses you of your unrighteousnesses, tell him that in the Lord Jesus Christ, not only are you forgiven of all your "sins", but that also you are cleansed "from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9) with His precious Blood, and that His RIGHTEOUSNESS  is your RIGHTEOUSNESS because He is "THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jeremiah 23:6). Hallelujah! Amen.
