Abner Pulaski Moseley

Abner Pulaski Moseley, 33, joined Company D, 18th Texas Infantry of Marion County, Texas on April 12, 1862. Seeing Captain John Cocke of Company D lying wounded in the field, Private A.P. Moseley, rushed to his side. As he rested his captain' s head and bathed it to ease the pain, a minnie ball struck Captain Cocke and killed him.
By battles end, Moseley had 20 bullet holes in his bedroll. His canteen and cartridge box had been shot to pieces, yet Moseley had only one scratch on his body to show for the fierce fighting.
