Jesse Jonathan Hall

Jesse Jonathan Hall was born September 4, 1841, in Meade Co., KY. He married Elizabeth J. Ragland in Titus Co. At the age of 21, he enlisted with several of his brothers in Company F, 18th Texas Infantry, CSA, on April 25, 1862, in Marion Co., TX, and served until he was discharged in April 1865. He appears on a Titus County Poll List, Precinct No. 4, in 1867, in which he stated he was a native of Kentucky and had lived in the county and State of Texas for 20 years. He was known in his father's family as "John," and he and his family moved to DeKalb, Bowie Co., Texas, about 1888. Jesse Jonathan and Elizabeth (Ragland) Hall were the parents of six children. He died in DeKalb on September 2, 1926. His wife, Elizabeth, died in Texarkana, TX, on January 3, 1917. Both are buried in the New Hope Cemetery near DeKalb.
