R.C. Gravett

GRAVETT, R. C., “SHIPS CARPENTER”, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America on the 10th day of September, 1861, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “A”, “Texas Cavalry”, 11TH “Spaight’s Battalion”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Sabine Pass, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service by being disbanded while on detached service as “Ship Carpenter”, in May, 1865. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). (note: Company “A” was formed in Jefferson County (Sabine Pass), Texas.)
