Optional page text here. Agrippa E. Bailey

Agrippa E. Bailey

He was born in Coweta County, GA in 1833 to Ezekiel L. and Mary Polly (STEED) BAILEY. Agrippa met and married Pamelia C. RUSSELL, 24/Oct/1853 in Coweta Co. GA. To their union were born 7 children: Franklin Bose Bailey, Mary Bailey, George C.Bailey, Sarah Adeline (Bailey) ALLEN, Fannie Bailey, William Lee Bailey, Leone Bailey, and Maggie (Bailey) MILLER.

Agrippa and family came to Upshur Co. Texas, Simpsonville, P.O. in 1859 from Coweta Co. GA. and farmed as did many in that day.

About his service, his Texas Pension papers say the following: I joined Co. H, 18th Texas Infantry and served for 13 months beginning in June of 1862. He goes on to say that he was injured in his left leg but never did desert the Confederacy. On Mr. Bailey's pension, Affidavit of Witnesses were two names familiar to the 18th Texas Infantry, J.C. PORTER and C.M. REEVES.

After the Great War, he farmed for a time. In the mid-1870's his wife called Caroline passed away. At some point probably after 1874 when part of Upshur County was ceded to create Camp Co. they moved to Leesburg, P.O.

Agrippa applied for his pension from Camp Co. Texas, 29/Dec/ 1899 and it was approved 7/Feb/1900, by the State of Texas.

Some notes I found from the internet by Karon, (, she says this Bailey Family moved to Jack Co. Texas.
