Dream of: 08 October 2011 "Its Not True"

As I was rushing through a labyrinthine building, passing from room to room, in a hurry to get somewhere, I suddenly remembered that it was the fifth of the month and that my rent was due. If I didn't pay the rent today, I would be charged a penalty of $20. I stopped in a large empty room, sat down and tried to figure out what I could do in order to avoid the penalty. I could send a check with today's postmark and avoid the penalty, but I didn't have enough money in the bank to cover the rent. I only had cash.

I was despondent, almost depressed. I had been trying my best not to waste money, and now I was going to lose $20. It seemed as if I were also going to lose an additional $20 on something else, which meant that I would lose $40 today simply due to negligence. I didn't know how I was going to survive if I just kept wasting money.

Suddenly the door to the room opened and two people whom I knew walked in: Duff (with whom I first came in contact in 1964 when we were both in the seventh grade) and Leah. Duff had been a high school classmate and Leah had been a law school classmate. I had been friends with both, but I hadn't seen them in a long time. Both looked about 40 years old and both were carrying little babies. Both Duff and Leah seemed happy and I wondered if the babies were the source of their contentment.

We didn't speak. Instead they walked around behind me and sat down. Duff was directly behind me and Leah was behind him. They had only been sitting for a moment when I felt Duff's hands on my back. He placed his right hand on my right shoulder and with his left hand he began pressing a spot several centimeters down from my neck just left of my spinal cord. I thought he was going to give me a massage, which seemed a little strange. Almost immediately, however, I began feeling the salubrious result of the pressure of his finger on my back. I was amazed at how good it felt. He was only applying a slight amount of pressure and he didn't move his finger from that one spot, but the result was amazing.

He continued for perhaps an hour. I finally bent down on my knees and then I lay down on my side with Duff lying beside me. I thought I had never had a massage and I could hardly believe how good it felt.

I almost seemed to be in a swoon. When I finally looked up at the wall in front of me, I realized the wall was covered with a gigantic mural of an Old Testament biblical scene which seemed to have something to do with the prophet Daniel. I thought Leah would be particularly impressed by the grandeur of the mural since I knew that she was almost fanatically religious. I myself was impressed, but since I didn't want anyone to think that I actually believed in the scene depicted, I blurted, "Its not true."
