Dream of: 21 October 2005 "Teotihuacán"

Carolina and I were in a hotel room in Mexico City, Mexico. It was about 10 a.m. and we had just gotten up. The phone rang and I picked it up. The woman at the front desk wanted to know if we wanted to spend another day, and I told her we did. I told her she already had my credit card (I thought to myself I should have said credit card number, not credit card) and she said she did.

After we had dressed, we went out to the lobby and ate some breakfast, including some eggs. Finished, we returned to the room and discovered that more food had been delivered to our room -- some fruit, some rolls, and little cups with nachos and cheese. Another woman (about 25 years old) who was a guest in the hotel was sitting at the table in our room. Carolina and I sat down, with Carolina across from me. Another person was also in the room, someone who was with Carolina and me. So four of us were in the room.

As we ate, someone mentioned leaving a tip. Carolina pulled out two one dollar bills. I told her that was too much. If all four of us left a tip, that would be $8 just for bringing in a little food. I didn't want to give anything, but I thought we might leave $5 altogether, because we wanted to stay on the good side of the people there in case we might need help latter.

I wasn't sure what we would do today, but I thought we might go to the pyramids at Teotihuacán. I had seen the pyramids before, but Carolina hadn't. When we were finished eating, I walked outside to the parking lot and got in the car. Carolina followed. She was wearing a big sombrero and looked rather cute. She was also carrying something which looked like bamboo sticks which were used as torches. She thought we might use them when we returned.

She climbed into the front seat with me, and I began pulling out. Suddenly, I saw my mother (about 70 years old) and realized that my mother was the other person who had been in the hotel room with us. She looked completely lost and distracted. She didn't seem to know what she was doing. I stopped the car and my mother got in.

I headed down the road. This little trip was going to be a bit expensive. The hotel was almost $70 a night, and we had to pay for this rental car. But we were going to have a good time and the trip would be worth the expense.
