I was thinking about Abraham Lincoln. I had always admired Lincoln, but now I was wondering if my admiration had been misplaced. When it came right down to it, Lincoln had been a war-president. And I was anti-war. Why did I respect someone who had been so totally involved in war? The problem was confusing. I just couldn't seem to change my admiration for Lincoln. No matter what he had done, I still liked him. But I couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to review my opinion of him.
