Dream of: 12 January 2004 "German Soldier"

I was a German soldier in Germany during World War II. I was walking along a road on the outskirts of a town, when a nice car (probably a Mercedes) with three American officers pulled up beside me. I was carrying a book (written in German) by John Grisham. One of the American officers was driving the car. He grimaced when he saw the book, but he didn't say anything.

Only one officer was sitting in the back seat. In German he ordered me to get in. I opened the back door on driver's side. As the officer scooted over to let me in, I noticed a Lugar about to come out of his holster. I thought of trying to grab the gun, but then I saw a smaller Lugar on the seat, and as he scooted over, I managed to pick up the smaller gun. Stuff was piled on the floor. The driver got out of the car and carried the stuff from the floor to the trunk. When the driver climbed back into the car, I pulled out my Lugar and pointed it at the officer sitting next to me. I took his Lugar, then pointed my gun at the two men in the front seat. I needed a minute to figure out how to work the guns. The safety was on and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. No one noticed my dilemma, however, and finally I figured out how to turn off the safety.

As we drove into a city, in German I told the driver that if he pulled up to a soldier, I would shoot him. The driver was clearly afraid.  I wasn't sure where to go, east west north south. I thought of every direction, and what I should do with these three officers. It would probably be safest to leave the city and head for the country.
