Dream of: 27 July 1999 "Jupiter"

Three other fellows and I (all of us probably in our late 20s) had traveled together to Germany. I was so happy to be here. I had been wanting to return to Germany for years, but had kept putting off the trip. Finally, I had decided to simply pick up and go. Before leaving, I had told my father I would probably only stay in Germany for a couple of months. Afterwards, I thought I would return to the United States and start working again. But I simply couldn't bring myself to take on a new job until I had first spent some time in Germany.

But now that I was here, I loved it so much, I didn't know when I return to the U.S. I knew I needed to find a place to stay, and that I would also need to buy a new sleeping bag. I recalled that I had left the U.S. rather abruptly, and I remembered a blue blanket that I wished I had brought with me. But I had packed the blanket in a box and left it behind.

The town in which two other fellows and I had arrived was charming. We were in the old downtown area, surrounded by quaint  and intriguing buildings. We seemed to be in the central plaza, which contained a small park in the middle, and was surrounded by imposing buildings. When I bent back my head and looked toward the top of the buildings, I was surprised to see that intricate facades had been built on the fronts. Toward the very tops of the buildings were gigantic statues artfully incorporated into the buildings. Most statues appeared to depict Grecian Gods, and I specifically thought I saw a statue of Jupiter. But the statues were so high off the ground, they were difficult to see well. I would have to find a better vantage point from which to view them. Definitely I was going to spend some time in this plaza, absorbing the extremely satisfying beauty of the place.
