Dream of: 26 October 1997 (3) "Quelling A Disturbance"

I was in a large apartment with quite a few other people. There had been some kind of disturbance in the apartment, and several of the people inside had guns. Soldiers were going to come to quell the disturbance, and were already on the stairs outside the apartment. Suddenly the door opened and armed soldiers began marching in. I was holding a book in my right hand, and I let both my hands fall straight down to my side, still holding the book.

A black man holding a rifle was standing near me. Realizing he couldn't resist the soldiers, he snapped to attention and put the rifle on his shoulder.

The soldiers planned to usher us out of the apartment. Knowing Carolina was in a room with some other people at the end of the hall, I walked over to the hallway and hollered, "Carolina!"

She hollered back, "What do you want?" I told her to come out, that the soldiers were here. She walked out of the room, down the hall and up to where I was waiting. Together we walked out the front door, out onto a balcony, the apartment obviously being on the second floor. We were about to continue on, when I suddenly remembered I had left my pet Dalmatian Picasso inside. I turned around to go back for him, but the soldiers stopped me. However when I told them I needed to go back for my dog, they let me pass. Carolina came with me.

Again I stood at the head of the hall and I hollered, "Dac!"

But then I remembered that Dac was the name of the Dalmatian I had had many years ago, and that it wasn't Dac whom I was calling, but Picasso. I hollered again, "Picasso!"

When Picasso came flying out of the same room where Carolina had been, I said to Carolina, "Carolina, he was in the room with you all the time."

Picasso ran as fast as he could to me. I couldn't believe I had almost walked out and left him there. He jumped into my arms and I held him as tightly as I could. I hugged him and said to him, "I missed you so much."
