Dream of: 16 October 1996 "Dedication"
Buckner walked into the room where I was; he was in the prime of life and looked strong and healthy. What struck me most about his appearance was what he was carrying, or rather what he was wearing: a musical instrument. I thought it was a saxophone, but it was wound around his body something in the manner of a tuba, only several times and rather tightly. It almost looked as if it were permanently affixed to his body and as if it couldn't be removed. This would accord with what he told me, that he had dedicated himself to playing the instrument and that he worked on it almost constantly. It was a little bizarre to think of him always wearing the instrument, but it was still a definite improvement from his former debauched life. I was happy to see he had found something to which he could dedicate himself.
