Dream of: 04 July 1994 "Ritual Fire"
I had helped my brother Chris (about 7-8 years old) into a car which belonged to a friend of Wheat. Although Chris had muscular dystrophy, he was, with difficulty, able to walk. When Wheat's friend (a man probably in his 30s), began driving the car, I became alarmed because I thought the man wasn't driving carefully. We didn't go far and soon returned to the place from where we had started. Wheat was standing nearby, and after I unloaded Chris from the car, I spoke with Wheat.
I told Wheat I had decided I was going to drive my own car to the place where we were going. Wheat became upset, because he wanted me to ride with him; but I was adamant. When he continued to protest that I had promised to go with him, I pointed out that he really had no basis for saying I was breaking my promise. Twice recently he had promised to go somewhere with me, and both times he had failed to go. Besides, I was still going to go; I simply didn't want to ride with his friend.
Chris and I had arrived at a beach on the ocean. Our attention was quickly captured by an unusual sight: a vintage hot rod car was parked on the beach. The hood was raised and inside had been placed a number of large books, which looked as if they probably contained pictures of art. We watched in amazement as someone set the car on fire. It burst into flames as if it had been doused with gasoline. I finally realized it was part of a ritual some people were performing. It was a shame that the car and books were being burned. It would have been much better if they would have been buried, so they could have been dug up by other people sometime in the future.
