Dream of: 26 April 1994 (2) "Papier-Mâché Statues"

I was in the back seat of a car, riding around with four women. We had been riding all day, and it occurred to me that I had certainly been wasting much time with the women. They all had menial jobs – one, for example, was a house cleaner.

We finally came to the house where one of the women lived. We all stepped out of the car and walked inside. The house, which had been renovated, was very nice. As I looked around at some things in the house, I concluded that many of the things had been bought second hand. One light fixture on the ceiling particularly caught my attention. Indeed, as we continued to walk around the place, I realized we were actually in a second-hand store, and that one of the women (who now looked like a man) ran the store.

I continued to browse, and noticed some small statues of papier-mâché and wood, the kind of little statues which I had seen before for sale in Mexico. Apparently the man who ran the store made a business of buying such items and then reselling them in the store. I talked to the man a little and learned that, unlike the other women who had been in the car with me, this man had gone to some kind of school and had received a degree in artistic design. So he apparently did have some idea about what he was doing. Curious, I asked him if he was able to make any money doing that. Surprisingly he told me he did make money from it.
