Another person and I were in a hilly region in the country, when we came across a black bear den. From where we were, we could just see a hole in the side of a hill, in which I knew there was a mother, a father and four baby bears. I was afraid the father bear was going to kill the baby bears; but finally we saw that the mother and father bear were leaving the den, taking two of the cubs with them, and leaving the other two behind, abandoning them. I thought after the large bears left, I would try to save the two abandoned cubs.
