The following is an actual dream included in my dream journal, and does not describe actual factsDream of: 08 October 1993 (2) "Cracked Glass"
A little before 7 a.m., I was walking around a building where an auction was going to take place. In fact, I was surprised to see the auction apparently had already begun. I noticed a small stage which had some food on it, which apparently was also going to be auctioned. Some watermelons were on the stage. I thought I might be interested in bidding on something. I had never seen a food auction before.
To bid I would need a number. So I got a ticket with a number on it and I sat down in the place for the bidders. Practically no one else was here. I realized something was being auctioned right now. It was some kind of round, solid glass which appeared to have some flowers in it. It was about 25 centimeters in diameter.
A woman, a child and the auctioneer were all bidding on the object. When they reached $1,000, the woman stood up and she and the child continued bidding against each other until they reach $1,100. The woman then stopped bidding and the child and the auctioneer began bidding against each other. Finally the auctioneer had the last bid and was waiting for someone else to bid.
Someone carried the object over near me and set it down. I looked at it and realized it was cracked. If it were mishandled, it would fall apart. But apparently everyone knew it was cracked and they wanted it anyway. I, however, was sure I didn't want to bid on it. It also was clear the auctioneer didn't want it. He was just trying to raise the bids, and now he was stuck with it. No one else seemed to want to bid on it.
