I was in a law school library, thinking about what I would do when I got out of law school. I thought I needed to be writing, but I thought I might need to get a job for a while after I graduated. I began thinking about a government office called the Department of Communications.

Just as I started to leave the library, I noticed and picked up a book which contained some information about the history of the Department of Communications and how the Department had been formed. The book was about 20 years old and therefore out of date. It spoke of the "Office of Communications,"  since the book had been written before the name was changed to the "Department of Communications." Since no one was looking, I walked out of the library with the book.

I had called someone on the phone about the Department of Communications. A friendly fellow answered the phone. I asked him some questions. I learned the Department was in Washington D.C. I told the fellow I was thinking about working in that field when I graduated from law school. But I was unsure whether I wanted to work inside the Department for the government. I didn't want to offend him, since he worked for the government, but I told him I didn't like the idea of working for the government. He didn't seem to be offended.

As we talked, I thought it would be good if I got to know him. Then if I worked in that field, I would know someone inside the Department. We continued talking for a while.
