Dream of: 18 July 1991 "Presidential Speech"

I was staying in the Gallia County Farmhouse, which George H.W.Bush was using as a vacation home. I just worked here, but since Bush came here frequently, I had gotten to know him. One day Bush, a few other people and I were talking in the kitchen. Bush was sitting on the counter and I was standing below him. He was lanky and thin. He seemed disdainful of me, although he tried not to show it. I voiced an opinion which was contrary to something in which he believed, and he began talking with me about it. I had the feeling he didn't care much for me, and that I was somewhat of an aggravation for him. Nevertheless he acknowledged me and talked with me for a while.

Someone else and I were on the gravel road a few kilometers from the Farmhouse. With me I had some typewritten notes which Bush was going to use in a speech which he was going to give tonight. As I traveled toward the Farmhouse, I passed through a small village which I didn't remember having ever seen before. I saw a grocery store on the left side of the road. I saw a gas station which I pointed out to the person with me. I then noticed some more gas stations and finally I counted six gas stations. I was quite surprised to see this development so close to the Farmhouse.

I continued until I was in sight of the Farmhouse. I was outside of the car and somehow managed to drop the papers I was carrying. They fell into a small creek. I climbed down some rocks until I reached the water's edge, from where I could see the papers below the surface of the water. But suddenly I noticed that there was a small house sitting nearby. To my surprise the door opened and an attractive woman (probably in her early 20s) with long blonde hair stepped out. She wanted to know what I was doing. I told her I had dropped the president's speech in the water and that I must retrieve it. Finally reached into the water and pulled out the paper.

I began talking with the woman. I was amazed that she was living here. I asked her how long she had lived here and she told me she had been here for 21 years. I couldn't believe it. I told her I had been living in the Farmhouse for 20 years. But then I corrected myself and said that my grandparents (Clarence and Mabel) had been living there 20 years and that I visited them frequently. And I also told her that I had lived in the Farmhouse before my grandparents had moved into it. She likewise seemed amazed.

She asked me about the speech and wanted to know if it contained anything about the environment. I told her there was some about it. It wasn't possible to avoid talking some about the environment these days. But I explained that I wasn't at liberty to discuss the speech, and she understood that.

Finally she walked down to the rocks near the creek and began talking with someone sitting there. I began thinking I would like to take her out. I knew my grandparents had an old truck which I might be able to use. I called her back and she returned to stand right in front of me. On the little finger of her left hand she was wearing a ring with a small diamond in it. I asked her if she were engaged or married. She replied, "No, not at all."

I put my arms around her and asked her if she would like to go out with me tonight. She says she would love to. I couldn't believe it. I thought I would get the truck and we would go to a movie in town. I felt so good about the whole matter. But I told her that right now I must return to the Farmhouse before Bush killed me. I said, "I can't believe this. I better get back over there and see if he's going to kill me."
