I was in a pleasant pool of water at a recreation area which contained a number of pools. As I lounged in the water, I began recalling when I had gone to my class reunion. I wished I had been able to say I was living in Europe and making a living as a writer. I had thought someone, perhaps a woman, would have been able to say that at the reunion. But nobody had.

I remembered having seen Ramey at the reunion, and I wondered what he would look like at our next reunion. Things could change drastically by then. For example, it wouldn't surprise me if Ramey were arrested for something and had to spend some time in jail. That would certainly cause people to look at him differently. Many things could happen between now and the next class reunion to cause changes in people's perceptions.
