While visiting Portsmouth, I had gone to a gathering of people in a building downtown. I saw Austin here and began talking with him. He looked quite impressive, as he generally had to me. I learned that he had graduated from law school about a year ago and had opened an office in Portsmouth. I told him I was still in law school and had a year more to go. But for the first time I was actually beginning to enjoy law. That was probably because knowing I would soon graduate, I felt less pressure. I told Austin I was probably going to go to California to practice law, since I would probably stay wherever I started. I told him I liked being in Portsmouth with my family, but I would rather live in California. Therefore that is where I would go.
