I was quite a little hesitate to get this movie because of the many negative reviews I had previously read. Once Upon A Time In China In America is part six of the Wong Fei-Hong legendary saga. This is quite a diffrent formula from any of Martial Art movies. What we are greeted to is gunfights, old school style, indians and kung fu galore.

Wong Fei-Hong (Jet Li reprises his signature role) has sailed to the United States to establish a new branch of his Po Chi Lam martial arts school and hospital, but an Indian raid (and a resulting bump on the head) leaves the master with temporary amnesia. When peaceful Indians discover him, he os accepted into the tribe. Now being Native American myself I saw Jet Li hook up into the tribal gear and thought to myself "Damn this man is tight". This man dodges arrows, bullets, beat the hell out of other tribal enemies single-handedly, and even gets close to another indian woman. Oh-la-la. Wong's woman (Rosamund Kwan) is totally pissed with the town for not helping find wong and tries to convince Wong of who he really is with the help of Clubfoot, now known as Seven.

The best moments are the humorous tidbits throughout the movie, like when Wong gives Malcom X like speeches that repeatedly put his audiences to sleep, or when the townspeople orchestrate the Wong Anthem to help him remember who he is and all the scenes with Billy, the good guy who sides with the Chinese, when they rescue him, and learns new kung fu moves along the way. All in all, this movie was one of the better ones I have seen in a while and defeinetly worth the purchase. I rated this movie 8 out of 10 stars.
