MY FATHER IS A HERO

Producer: Charles Heung, Jimmy Heung

Director: Corey Yuen

Cast: Jet Li, Tze Miu, Anita Mui,Yu Rong Guong

Out of all of Jet Li movies I have ever seen, only "Fist of Legend" is better than "My Father Is A Hero". This movie was one of the first movies I had purchased when I left my roommates and moved back to Dallas after seeing the likes of Fong Sai Yuk and Lord of the Wu-Tang. This movie was my first modern day Jet Li movie and with the exception of the movie I just names above is one of my favorites. Could you believe my amazment at seeing Jet with a full grown of hair and mind you I still did not know anything about Lethal Weapon 4 which for some reason I had heard of it but never liked any of the sequels or its original one.

This movie contained a combination of martial arts, gunplay, melodrama, and to this day, has one of the most compelling stories I have seen Jet do. Thats what carries this movie more than anything. This is the first time I have seen Anita Mui, and was very impressed and wish to find movies starring her. She plays an Hong Kong police inspector who is hot on the trail of under cover cop Jet Li, who he himself is secretly trying to foil Yu Rong-Guang's nefarious smuggling ring. When Li's wife dies of some vague, lingering illness, Mui vows to help Li's orphaned kung-fu toddler (Tse Miu) and help solve the case.

This one was also the first time I saw Tze Mui, and was just as equally impressed with him as well. Immediately after seeing this I went out and saw New Legend of Shoalin and kid has skills. Unfortunely, I was hoping to see more a tandem between Jet and Tze, but this does not drag from the movie whatsover. This movie is definetly for Jet Li fans and everyone who just like movies. I gave this movie a rating of 9 out of 10 stars
