FIST OF LEGEND

Director: Gordon Chan, Woo-ping Yuen

Starring: Jet Li, Yusuaki Kurata, Ada Choi

Check this out. I am doing my daily returning of movies at Blockbuster, when I looked at the new arrivals and saw Fist of Fury-Jet Li??? Now, I surely thought this was a mistake and so curiously, I venture into the new releases section and BAM! It hit me, A newly dubbed release version of Fist Of Legend. What was even cooler was that out of 20 copies, there was only one left, which i grabbed and took home and find out if it was worth the rental. I mean i owned the oringinal subtitled one. The best martial arts movie ever made? Perhaps. It's certainly Jet Li's best film. A remake of the Bruce Lee film Fist of Fury, complete with a new musical score which was astounding and really added more suspense and dramatic points of the fight sequences. Jet Li's Fist of Legend is the story of folk hero Chen Zhen and his desire to see his master's death avenged.

Fist of Legend was something of a turning point for Li, as it saw him move beyond the fantasy-epic genre he helped perfect. While it still wasn't set in present day, Fist of Legend at least had Jet with a more modern hair cut. And not only that but we saw the various different Japanese and Chinese styles used together. We are even treated to seeing Jet do boxing stances, a pleasant gift.

The Action scenes in this movie are absolutely breathtaking and all the drama is nothing short of perfection. I swear I watch this movie atleast 5 times a week. This is one of the few modern day movies in which there is very little wiring done. If you only see this movie for one reason, see it for the epic blind-folded fight between Jet and Japanese film legend Yusuaki Kurata. I rated this movie 10 out of 10.
