On February 3, 2001, we participated in the TET Reunion at the Display Building at the Taylor County Fairgrounds. This was put together by the Abilene Grunts Association. This reunion was a great event to meet fellow veterans from different wars. The Abilene Grunts Association also provided entertainment which included an USO Show. They had quite an appearance. There was a Janice Joplin impersonator, and several others. Texas Veteran's - Chapter 1 set up a booth that displayed photos from different events and also a book of photos from WWII. It was very interesting. We are looking forward to next years event.

May 15-16, 2000 Texas Veteran's - Chapter 1 had their 2nd Annual "Run To The Wall". We had over 150 people attend the run. We were able to raise over $2,000 to send veteran's to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC for Memorial Day Services with Rolling Thunder.

During this run we had several activities. We had a poker run which included stops at Raven's Haven, Western Edge and Woody's Bar here in Abilene. There were also Bike Games. We had the Cherry Bite, which was exciting, it came down to Dave Haven's and Bill Johnson. Bill Johnson ended up taken the Cherry home. The Weinie bite was also exciting. Jeanette O'Fallon ended up biting the "whole" weinie. She is still the reining champion. Other bike games included the slow crawl, which Dave Haven's crawled his way into first. We also had the Balloon Toss. We did have a Wet T-Shirt contest, but it did turn into basicaly a body contest. The girls did go to some extreme to get the money. First place and $50.00 went to Robbi and Second Place and $25.00 went to Ginger. Way to go girls. I believe that was the most enjoyable event for the men. The "Homewreckers" provided musical entertainment for the event. Tony Barker of Abilene also joined in with them during the evening. Thanks to all of them for their time.

Thank you to all of our vendors who donated for our fund raiser.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO JILL AND ROB MASON FOR THEIR HARD WORK THAT THEY PUT INTO THIS EVENT. WITHOUT THEIR EFFORT, THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PULLED OFF AS WELL AS IT DID.

In December we held our first Toy/Food Drive for Jones County, Texas. We were able to raise enough food, toys, money to supply 70 families with Christmas dinner and gifts for the children. There were some food and toys left over, but, there was a fire to a local home and the Chapter decided to donate the remaining items to that family. This was a success and we would like to thank Jones County Sherriff's Department, EMS of Jones County and all the people who helped!
