Poems for Rica

Erica Starr Czerwinski

Everyday we
Regret,
I regret missing out,
Creating scenarios in my head,
All I can do is wish.

Sweetie, I missed so much,
Times we should have had,
And now it is too late,
Ripped from me forever,
Reasoning doesn't help.

Can you forgive me, your
Zest for life is something we miss most of all.
Erica, I love you,
Right now I just hope you know that.
Wasted time can not be recovered,
I know this and I weep,
Now I have to live with my mistakes,
So I say farewell, to you,
Kindred spirit, my sister,
I will always love you.

Love Lost

I tumble through space,
Flailing for handholds,
All I see around me is grief,
Anger runs rampant,
Healing is yet to come,
So much was torn from our lives,
Can it be put together again,
We lean on one another for support,
We break down in quiet,
We stare blankly as we daydream,
If only we could reverse things,
So much potential wasted,
So much love lost,
So much joy that will not be experienced,
How does one cope,
Push on in faith,
She would want happiness and laughter,
And yet we mourn and ask for our own release,
And look forward to being with her again.

Memories
Inspiring Beauty,
Soul, Body, and Mind,
I reach out and grasp at memories,
Your laugh that tinkled like bells,
Your capriciousness that amused me,
Your legs as you showed them off,
Your hips cocked to the side,
Your beeper hidden between your breasts,
Your hugs full of warmth,
Your voice as you sang for no reason except to enjoy it,
Your spunk and fervor,
Your way of making others see their good qualities,
And as I remember you,
I thank the heavens for the way you touched me,
And I pray you are safe and happy and that you know how I miss you,
How I love you, my sister.
