Baptism For The Dead

Baptism for the dead is the most commonly ritial done in LDS temples.

We believe that the dead should not be punished for never getting the opportunity to hear and accept the teachings of Christs' church. So we feel it is our responsibility to find the names of our ancesters and baptize them in the sacred baptizmal font reserved for the dead (all the pictures on this page are the different kinds of baptismal fonts we use to baptise the dead and each Temple has one; they are not the ordinary fonts that you would be baptised in when you are baptised in the LDS church, that is if your not dead).

But that's not all you have to do to bring the dead into Christs' church. Like us, the Living, they must be confirmed a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints with the laying on of hands and recieve the Holy Ghost (since they of course are dead, we get to have the laying on of hands put on our heads in the name of who ever was baptized, in the confirmation room).

Something that is really special about doing Baptisms for the dead is when your in the Baptizmal area sitting around the font, or even when your in the font doing Baptisms for the dead, you can always feel the spirit's presence there. Sometimes you can even here a whispering of thank yous.

A while back one of my mom's friend went to the temple (I think I was there to) and baptized her Grand mother, and then on that same night her grand mother came to her in her sleep and said "Thank You, I couldn't of made it without you" and that right there made my testimony even stronger. And that Baptisms for the dead are nessesary, So that our loved ones who past up the opportunity, or didn't get an opportunity in this life, do get an opportunity to return to Our Father in Heaven.

Also, some of the stubborn people who we baptize, usually the people who didn't like the church while on earth (so those people would be anti-mormons), refuse to get baptized into the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints even after this life and end up staying in the Terrlestial or Telestial Kingdoms or even lower. Which of course means they don't get to live with Heavenly father (our friend, God, and King), Heavenly mother, nor Jesus Christ and never even get to see them.
