RED BALL MOTOR FREIGHT

"SmilingService"

Red Ball Motor Freight was founded in 1928 by Henry English and served a very limited area of East Texas. The home office was in Lufkin, Texas and the original service area encompassed Lufkin, Houston, and the towns along the route. Through merger and aquisition, Red Ball Motor Freight expanded to become the sixth largest common carrier in the nation. Red Ball, like many of the great carriers of that era, failed to meet the demands of deregulation of the trucking industry in the early eighties and filed for bankruptcy in April of 1982.

Since 1992 there has been an attempt to save what remains of the history of this company which provided the livelihood for countless families through the years. What was originally an attempt to learn of my father's years with the company has snowballed. Hundreds of former employees agreed that the history of the company was worth saving and because of their generosity and trust, this web page is possible. Hopefully, this fine company which meant so much to so many will be long remembered.

Please remember that we are still seeking ANYTHING related to Red Ball or the associated freight lines. If you have items to donate, do so with the knowledge they will be saved for the enjoyment of former employees. If you have something that we might need that you want to keep, please contact me so that we can arrange for copies to be made. I get email through Yahoo as redball98. Please include the word "Museum" in the subject line.
