Random Poetry Bits

- Yours Truly

These are poems that I started, but never finished, poems that came to me in dreams and could not be completely remembered in waking, poems that I never could find the right words for. Some of them may one day be ended, but until then, they go here. The unfinished.

Security Blanket
There’s safety in pain
Refuge in the razor blade
Security in cigarette burns
Hiding behind a mask of torment
What a masquerade.
The world will never find me here,
But if they do, at least they can’t hurt me.
I’ve done that myself.
The bruises, the scars are
Mine and mine alone.
No one else can hurt me,
Quite like me.

Modify
Change, change, change
Have to keep changing
If I stop changing, they’ll catch me
It they catch me, I’ll die.
Modify, Modify, Modify…
Age will change me, but I can beat it.
The body is a canvas and I will paint it
Pierce it, scar it, beat it.
It’s mine and no one else can claim it.

When I Grow Up
I’m going to turn off the light
Now and go to sleep
Tomorrow it will be all right.
Tomorrow I will be okay
I know, because
Tomorrow is another day.
When I Grow Up
Life will be a dream.
No one tells me what t’do
Tomorrow I’ll be free.
Maybe it’ll suck or maybe
It’ll be peaches and cream
But no matter what,
I’ll be free.
There’s magic in my room
I feel it every day
It cuts through the daily gloom
Wraps around me, safe and sound,
Keeps out the wrongs,
Turns my troubles upside-down.
If I Grow Up
Life will be a dream
No one tells me what t’do
Tomorrow I’ll be free.
Maybe it’ll suck or maybe
It’ll be peaches and cream
But no matter what,
I’ll be free.
