Dear Papa...
She cried last night...
Cried for the first time in thirty years.
They buried her husband yesterday.
God took away his body
No one could take away her memories.
She remembered how she met him
Two kids so young, brave and strong.
How he always loved eating ice cream
Walking together going nowhere...
Being together as time moved on.
They built a life together
Love and dreams and not much money
Sometimes no money...
But getting by all the same.
In time they had a family
Two boys and a daughter.
Daddy's girl just like her mother.
All three were raised well
Strong minds not like their parents.
That's what he'd say...
And she would grab him
And he would kiss her.
And they made love
Love so strong she couldn't breathe.
She cried again tonight...
Going thru their pictures with the kids.
They cried too.
They asked if she would be alright
And she said don't worry about me tonight.
I have so many memories
I'm not really so sad she said.
But wouldn't Papa be mad up there
If he didn't think I missed him a little?
These tears are for him my children
I have had so many good years.
And then the children left her.
Went home together and said a prayer.
And mama, she said one too...
May God be with you Papa
Until someday we are together
Together again, this time forever.
Amen ..God Bless I love you.
The finest man I ever knew.
