If Children live with criticism,
they learn to condemn.

If Children live with hostility,
they learn to fight.

If Children live with ridicule,
they learn to be shy.

If Children live with shame,
they learn to feel guilty.

If Children live with tolerance,
they learn to be patient.

If Children live with encouragement,
they learn confidence.

If Children lives with fairness,
they learn justice.

If Children live with praise,
they learn to appreciate.

If Children live with security,
they learn to have faith.

If Children live with approval,
they learn to like themselves.

If Children live with acceptance & friendship,
they learn to find Love in the World.

Dear Mom & Dad,

Please don't spoil me. I know quite well that I shouldn't
have everything I ask for. I'm just testing you.

Don't be afraid to be firm with me. I prefer it; it makes me
feel secure.

Please don't let me form bad habits. I have to rely on you to detect
them in their early stages.

Don't make me feel smaller than I am. It only makes me behave
stupidly "big".

Please don't correct me in front of others if you can help it.
I'll pay more attention if you speak quietly with me in private.

Don't nag either. If I pretend to be deaf; you'll know why.

Don't make me feel that I have committed a crime when I make
a mistake. It confuses my sense of values. Sometimes I need
to learn the hard way so don't protect me from consequences.

Don't be too upset when I say "I hate you". It isn't you I hate but
the power you have to thwart me.

Don't take too much notice of my little ailments. Sometimes they get
me the attention I need. I feel badly when promises are broken so
don't make them without meaning to follow through.

Don't forget that I can't always explain myself well. That is why
I'm not always accurate.

Please don't tax my honesty too much. I'm easily frightened into
telling lies.

Don't be inconsistent. It confuses me and makes me lose trust
in you.

Please answer my questions when I ask. If you don't, you'll find
that I'll stop asking and seek my information elsewhere.

Don't tell me my fears are silly; they are very real to me,
and your understanding does much to reassure me.

Don't ever tell me that you are perfect or always right. It
causes too much of a shock when I discover you are neither.

Don't ever think that it's below your dignity to apologize to me.
An honest "I'm sorry" makes me feel better about you.

Don't forget how quickly I'm growning up. It must be very hard
for you to keep up with me, but please try.

Don't forget that I love experimenting. It's partly how I learn,
and I couldn't get on without it: so, please put up with it.

Last but not least, please don't forget that I can't thrive without
lots of love and understanding, but I don't have to tell you that,
do I?

Love,
Your Child

Baby Girl
for Amanda & Haley with love

She gazed upon her
All dressed in white,
It was her Christening Day
The sun was shining bright

Time seemed frozen,
Tho she knew it wouldn't last
Todays' smiles & laughter,
Would soon be memories passed

It was on this day
She knelt and prayed to God above
For strength in teaching
This little girl, unconditional love

It was her only wish
That this child of God
Would know her great love
And the love of her Savior
From Heaven up above

The lessons in her life
Be taught with a hug
And lots of smiles
The tears that would come along,
Be wiped away with a loving touch
And last only a little while

One day, too soon
Would come, she knew
When she was no longer needed
She prayed for her baby girl
To remember the lessons of love
And heed them

What God loans out to us
We have to learn to share
The gift that He has given
Is such a short time, in our care.

The day, then came...
She gazed upon her
All dressed in white
It was her Wedding Day
The sun was shining bright

Yet when she needs a Mothers hand
I'll only be an arm's reach away
For soon she'll be a Mommy too
And as blessed as I was on that day...
When God gave unto me
My beautiful baby girl.
