THE CHILD IN ME

Sometimes I don't feel grown up

Sometimes I don't think anyone hears

Sometimes when I call out I know

no one will answer.

Then I look up and there you are

You heard me when I cried out

You touched me when I hurt.

You dried my eyes and gave me a smile

Lord, they think I am strong

They think I have it altogether

They never see the child inside of me

They never hear the silent tears I shed

They don't know my hurts

They don't feel my pain

Then I look up and there you are

You reach out to me

You cradle me in your arms of love

You kiss away my tears

And chase away my fears

With you I don't have to be strong

With you I can be me
With you I can be loved

With you I can be free

Thank you for your love

Thank you for your blood

Thank you for letting me see

That you have felt like this too
