How to Become a Christian

Jesus Christ was with God the Father before the world was created. He became human and lived among humanity as Jesus of Nazareth. He came to reveal the Father. He lived, He ministered, He died on a cross (John 1:1-18).

Jesus is the source of eternal life. He is available to people today because God has raised Jesus from the dead.

Jesus wants to be the doorway to new life for you. In the Bible He was called the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29). In the Old Testament, sacrifices were made for the sins of the people. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb offered for your sin.

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). He is waiting for you now. Here is what you must do to accept Him and become a Christian:

• Recognize His love for you. He died for you.
• Admit your need for Him. Confess your need for salvation.
• Express sorrow for your sin by repenting, which means turning away from sin and turning to God.
• Place your faith in Jesus and invite Him into your life.
• Pray a prayer of repentance and faith. If you do not know what to say to God, say something like, "Dear Heavenly Father, I know that You love me. I confess my sin and ask for Your forgiveness. I now invite Jesus into my life. In Jesus' name. Amen."

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, Jesus is now your personal Savior. Tell a pastor or another Christian about your decision. Show others your faith in Christ by being baptized and becoming an active member of a church. Becoming a Christian is your first step on the lifelong road of spiritual growth and service God desires for you.
