Information About Puppy Mills

Be on guard for breeders who are not legitimate and care only about making money. They are often distributing unhealthy animals without papers and failing to report earnings to the IRS. Never buy a pet if you haven't investigated the conditions from which it came and inspected the parents. A good breeder will provide veterinary records, ancestry papers and registration, references (check them) and a guarantee--- taken from P.A.W.S. newsletter
Please write to your local congressman about the USDA and their involvement in puppy mills. I know how much damage a dog from a puppy mill can have. Harrison has hip problems now and I believe he was also physically mistreated. It has taken him 2 years to get used to family members, but he still doesn't like to be picked up and he also does not like people and children to pet him. When I bought him, there was a raw spot on his foot that he had possibly chewed raw. The vet said that Harrison was much younger than the AKC papers and store owner claimed. Harrison's testicles had to be surgically removed and his baby teeth had to be pulled out.
