Anyone know how to achieve Dimebag Darrell's awesome tone. I have a boss metal zone and a DOD fx7 multi-effects processor. Please Help!!

Well Adamm it's not easy.I went out and got a Randall head,a blue mxr six band eq pedal, and a furman parametric eq rackmount. He uses all of these things to get his sound. From my ears you need the six band eq pedal before your distortion box,you set it with in v formation pointing straight up and not down as everyone has been led to believe. This helps overdrive the amp a little and makes a very fuzzy distortion that sounds great on muted notes, the tops of the v should be 400 and 800 hz.This kind of distortion only occurs when you use eq before the amp,now on to the amp.You need to turn your bass up to about 10 or 12 I mean crank it,the mids about six or half-way,the treble is same as mids, and the presence about 7,now about cutting frequencies, just about all metal bands cut frequencies to make their tone tighter,On the furman I set it as follows, the first band is set to shelve eq -30db @ 180HZ,-30db 1.0 octave @700hz,-9db half octave @ 1.5khz,shelve eq -30db @ 10K. I hope this helps Adam,In your case I would probably recommend getting the mxr eq pedal and running it before your metal zone and the us the dod for cutting frequencies or fx.The metal zone is a good pedal I owned one before and loved it. It has every bit as much gain as the randall if not more gain.I personally think that Dime is sneaking a distortion box in their somewhere cause believe me he is not getting that gain from that randall head alone. Thats why I use my digitech rp-5 more than it,Its quieter, more gain, has fx,and 3 parametric eqs meaning I get whatever I want out of it. If you have any more questions mali me I'll be happy to try and answer them for you
